Profile of a Workplace Pathway Student
- The Grade 3 & 6 EQAO results are below that of the of the Provincial Standard
- The student has experienced very limited success at grade level in Math and English, typically reading and writing at or below the Grade 6 level
- The student is usually on an Individual Education Plan (IEP)
- The student will receive an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (O.S.S.D.), but is typically heading into the workplace, an apprenticeship, or a college certificate program
- The student benefits from a program that offers more hands-on type of assignments
- The student may benefit from specialized programs such as Specialized High Skills Major programs or Co-operative Education
- The student may benefit socially from smaller class sizes and access to the Resource Room
- The Learning Resource Teacher has a good knowledge of the student’s strengths and weaknesses
- The student will benefit from multiple levels of support systems that schools can offer
- If high academic success is achieved, there are opportunities to move to the Applied level
