Grade 9 Gryphons Connect at Ferndale Park

by Unknown | Sep 17, 2026

On Friday, September 30, approximately 250 Grade 9 students from Greater Fort Erie Secondary School headed to Ferndale Park for a fun-filled day of team building, connection, and Gryphon spirit.

Led by 45 enthusiastic Gryphon Guides, students took part in a variety of team-building games and activities organized by the GFESS Student Council. The day allowed Grade 9 students to step outside the classroom, meet new people, strengthen friendships, and feel even more connected to their new school community.

Students jumped right into the activities and friendly competition. Grade 9 student Bentlee Lyrette had a clear favourite: “Tug of war was the best game so far, but it was really fun to dominate in Huckle Buckle.”

For many students, the day was also about meeting new people and making connections. Dan Corneille shared, “Today was a lot of fun, and I got to meet some new people.”

From tug of war to Huckle Buckle, the day was filled with plenty of laughter, teamwork, and Gryphon spirit. More importantly, Grade 9 Day gave students a chance to make memories, build connections, and create new friendships as they begin their high school journey.

A huge thank you to our Gryphon Guides, Student Council, staff, and everyone who helped make the day a success. It was a fantastic way to welcome our newest Gryphons to the GFESS community.

Go Gryphons!
