Greater Fort Erie students who are members of 2966 Army and 337 Air Cadet Squadrons volunteered their weekends to help with the local Legion's Poppy Campaign.
These students took donations outside of Fort Erie businesses the first two weekends of November, leading up to Remembrance Day. The Poppy Sale donations helped support veterans in need.
The Air and Army Cadet program is for Canadians ages 12-19 who meet weekly to grow as leaders and gain new skills. They also work to help build a better community for themselves and others.
“It’s a good way to help the community while supporting our legion and veterans,” said Cadet Caleb Browne, a fourth-year Air Cadet at 337.
These young leaders choose to go out during November to make a difference and help remind people of the significance of Remembrance Day.
“Poppy sales help the community to remember what the soldiers have done for us while being able to support and give back to them simultaneously,” stated Cadet Aspen-Rose Tyler, a first-time Poppy Campaign volunteer.
You can support by donating at Poppy Campaign boxes or online at the Nation Poppy Trust Fund. All funds go to aid veterans with housing, food, medical care and so much more. Every donation makes a difference.
