Dear Students and Families of Greater Fort Erie Secondary School:
To support the safe return of students after the winter break, the Ministry of Education, in partnership with Ministry of Health, Ontario Chief Medical Officer of Health and the Ministry of Government and Consumer Services (MGCS), has provided public schools with rapid antigen screening kits for students in Ontario.
During this week prior to the winter break GFESS each student will have the opportunity to receive a BTNX rapid antigen screening kit that contains five tests. These test kits will support voluntary screening at home, prior to students’ return to the classroom in January.
It is recommended for students to conduct rapid antigen tests every 3-4 days over the holiday break (every Monday and Thursday beginning Dec. 23rd, until all five tests have been used). If a student receives a positive test using the rapid antigen screening, they should contact Niagara Region Public Health, isolate, and get a confirmatory PCR test at a local testing site as soon as possible.
For families who choose to use rapid antigen screening kits, instructions will be provided with the kits. You can also find instructions through this link: BTNX Self Screening Instructions
Sincerely,
Fred Louws
