Next week will mark the grand opening of the new high school in Fort Erie.
Students, staff, and the community will celebrate the grand opening of Greater Fort Erie Secondary School on Wednesday.
Lightheartedly dubbed by school Principal Fred Louws as the “Harvard of Niagara,” GFESS first opened its doors to students in September of this year,
Highlights of the campus include a synthetic turf field and eight-lane running track, and a 500-seat theatre.
The theatre is a result of a partnership between the DSBN and the Town of Fort Erie.
“Greater Fort Erie is a showcase facility for the town,” said Louws. “We have had so much support from residents, businesses, and the community at large. We look forward to showing them this great school that they have helped us to deliver for students.”
The event will feature student performances and videos, remarks from DSBN and government officials, and a unique photo opportunity for those attending.
Snacks will be provided by the school’s Pomegranate Restaurant food program.
