School Board In Search of Mascot for New High School

by User Not Found | Feb 25, 2015

The Ministry of Education announced in September 2014 that the province will invest $20.6 million in funding to build a new high school in Fort Erie. The announcement was made at Fort Erie Town Hall in front of political dignitaries, and elementary school students. Sarah Ferguson/Fort Erie Times/QMI Agency Niagara.

The District School Board of Niagara has narrowed down three choices for the new mascot of Greater Fort Erie Secondary School.

The DSBN invited students from Fort Erie Secondary School Ridgeway and Crystal Beach Public School and their feeder schools to submit suggestions for a mascot that would represent school pride and unity for students at Fort Erie’s new high school, which will open in September 2017.

The DSBN received more that 50 mascot suggestions and narrowed them down to three finalists: The Giants, the Gryphons and the Guardians.

From now until Feb. 27, students, staff, parents and the public can vote for one of the three finalists online at www.surveymonkey.com/r/mascot2015. Individuals can also suggest mascot characteristics, make up their own school cheer and recommend school colours.
